Financial Support!!  We need business support!!
As you know football is a very expensive game. We are always appreciative of contributions by individuals or businesses supportive of youth sports. We rely on the generosity of others in order to keep our entry fees low enough to give every child an opportunity, regardless of his/her economic situation and to keep them safe. Contributions can be made to CPWA earmarked: Football and mailed to 99 State Street c/o Bill Porter.

When
Weeks One and Two: First Day is August 21st at 6:00 pm behind the Middle School. All participants must be registered online before they may begin practice.

Games:  Held every Saturday morning. Minors from 9:00-10:15, Majors from 10:30-11:45.  Some games are on the road at other league venues including, Gouverneur, Potsdam, St. Lawrence Central, Malone and Massena.  Home games will be played on our newly completed field at the high school!

Majors and Minors Practices
Minors will include grades 3-4 and will include basic instruction regarding safe play, proper tackling instruction, basic blocking principles and all skill position fundamentals. This is the first level to include full contact.

Majors will include grades 5-6 and although many principles will be similar to the minors, the emphasis will be placed more heavily on game rules, offensive and defensive strategies, and other developmentally appropriate concepts.

*Athletes will need to provide cleats, t-shirt and shorts and a water jug. All other equipment will be supplied.

Flag Football
The first day of flag football will be held on Tuesday evening, August 19th behind the middle school. The flag level includes no contact and the emphasis is on skill development, instruction of basic concepts and fun. Team members will receive a T-shirt and will need shorts and cleats for practice and games. Flags will be provided.

SAFETY IS OUR MAJOR PRIORITY!!
It is important to understand that the boys playing majors and minors must be "phased in" to full pads and contact. Each boy must practice for (2) days with no pads or contact followed by (3) days with full pads but no contact. After (5) days he now eligible for contact but must have (11) practices in order to play in games.

Concussion: Sports-related concussions are very serious if not managed correctly. The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have teamed up to provide information and resources to help educate coaches on the importance of proper concussion recognition and management in youth sports. Each of our minors and majors coaches will be required to complete the NFHS "Concussion in Sport" certification. Concussion information:

Game Schedule TBD

Coaches: If you would like to volunteer as a coach, please contact Matt Randi
prior to August 14

Mergers: We now have merger agreements with the following schools….Lisbon Central, Hermon-DeKalb Central and Edwards-Knox at the modified and high school levels as well. This means that a child’s football career is no longer finished when he begins 7th grade!!
